「オシリカジリムシ～オシリカジリムシ～」と、謎めいた歌詞にテクノ調の不思議なメロディー。そして、人のお尻をかじる奇妙で愛らしいキャラクター。といえば、今ではもう日本中の誰もが知っている「おしりかじり虫」！昨年、NHKの音楽番組「みんなのうた」での放送以来、今や子供達だけでなく、大人達までもが夢中なってしまった！本日PingMagは、「おしりかじり虫」の生みの親である2人組ユニット「うるまでるび」のうるまさんに、人々に愛されて止まない「おしりかじり虫」について色々と話をお聞きした。

それでは、簡単な自己紹介からお願いします。
「うるまでるび」は「うるま」と「でるび」の2人組ユニット・アーティストで、アニメーションを中心にキャラクターやソフトウェア制作なども手掛け、幅広く活動しています。子供番組「ウゴウゴルーガ」の「しかと」や「えいごリアン」の「カプセル侍」などのアニメーション作品が代表作として知られています。今回「おしりかじり虫」ではアニメーションだけでなく作詞・作曲も担当しました。
今回の「おしりかじり虫」は、どのように生み出されたのでしょうか？
僕たち夫婦は、日常で駄洒落なんかをよく言い合ったりするんですね。ある日、妻のでるびが台所で洗い物をしていた時、お尻が突き出ていたんです（笑）。僕が「そんなにお尻を突き出していると、おしりかじり虫に噛み付かれるよ。」と言ったことがそもそもの始まりでした。その言葉に2人とも大盛り上がりし、直ぐその場でおしりかじり虫の絵を描いたんです。そしてキャラクターが出来た時には既にメロディーも完成していました。僕が無意識に鼻歌で「おしりかじりむし～」と奏でたメロディーがそのまま曲になったのです。だから音程はたったの2つしかない。しかしかえって、その簡単な音の構成が子供達の耳には入りやすかったのかな？と思います。
おしりかじり虫を初めて見た時、人のお尻をかじるというその奇天烈なキャラクターに衝撃を受けました。一体おしりかじり虫とは何者なのでしょうか？また、家族などバックグラウンドはありますか？
ええ、もちろんです。おしりかじり虫は、人のお尻をかじるのが大好きな「妖精」なんですよ。先祖代々かじり稼業で旅をしながら暮らしていて、その起源は古く、なんと紀元前の古代アッシリアにまで遡ります。主人公のおしりかじり虫は18世で、両親がたまたま大阪に滞在している時に生まれました。歌の中で「かじってなんぼの商売や～」と変な大阪弁で歌っているのはその為です。性格は底抜けに明るく、歌と踊り、そして大阪じこみのファンクやラップが大好きなんです。ちなみにファンクやラップは僕の音楽の趣味でもあります（笑）。
また、僕はザ・ドリフターズや天才バカボンなどを見て育った世代で、タライが頭の上に落ちて来るコントやバカボンパパの駄洒落など、意味もなく面白い笑いが僕の原点になっていると思うんです。たぶん、お尻をかじるという発想もそこから来ているんだろうな、という気はしますね。
YouTubeで「おしりかじり虫」と検索すると、沢山の動画が掲載されていたので色々と拝見させて頂きました。NHKで放映されたアニメ映像では、久々に日本を訪れたおしりかじり虫が元気のない人々のお尻をかじり、その人々をどんどん元気にしていくというストーリーが繰り広げられていますが、そこには何かうるまでるびさんの想いや人々へのメッセージなどが込められているのでしょうか？
僕がイスラムの国を旅して体感したことなのですが、そこでは誰もが気軽に声をかけてくるんですよ。そのような人の触れ合いがある環境にいると、自然と人の心は温かくなるんだなと思いました。しかし今の日本はどうでしょうか。特に都会では人々の疲れている表情ばかりが目に付きます。かつて存在していた「暖かな無遠慮」、ほら、大阪のおばちゃんって誰にでも明るく声をかけてくるじゃないですか？そのような「暖かなお節介」が現在では希薄になっているように感じます。人々はお互いに警戒し合い、遠慮がちになり、簡単な挨拶さえもあまり交わさないですよね。
あのアニメーションではそのような今の日本の状況を描いているんです。おしりかじり虫は心身ともに元気のない現代人のお尻をお節介にかじります。そしてかじられた人は何故か元気になる。おしりかじり虫にとってお尻をかじるという行為は、無意識の中で行われるので、元気のない不味いお尻をかじって寝込んでしまいますが、「あしたのあしたはあさってだ！」と言って、また元気に生きていくんです。
私達うるまでるびの目的はただひとつ、「世の中を楽しく元気にしたい」ということ。ですので、皆さんがおしりかじり虫を観て楽しく元気になってくれることを心から願い、この作品を作りました。
うるまさんは一児の父でもあるとお聞きしましたが、作品制作でお子さんに意見を求めたりされますか？
いや、それは全くしませんね。息子なんておしりかじり虫の制作期間の1年と4ヶ月の間、ずっとその過程を嫌という程見ていたのでテレビで公開された時にはすっかり飽きていました。「ねぇ、おしりかじり虫が始まるよ。」と、声をかけると「う～ん…後で観るよ。」と、あっさり断られてしまいましたよ（笑）。
PingMagの外国人スタッフは、おしりかじり虫の大ファンで、近くのMONO COMME ÇAでグッズを買ったりしています（笑）。彼女によればドイツでも話題になっているそうですが、海外進出の予定などは考えておられますか？
まだ海外進出をするかどうかは未定ですが、外国の方にも受け入れられるというのは喜ばしいことです。やはり意味の分からない笑いの感覚は世界共通なのかも知れませんね。

数々のヒット作品を発表されていますが、今回大ヒットとなった「おしりかじり虫」は、本当に驚く程の反響が人々から寄せられています。それは何故だとお考えになりますか？
僕にとってもそれは永遠の謎なんですよ。ずっとこの仕事をしていますが、人に何が受け入れられるか、受け入れられないかというのは、この先も絶対に分かり得ないことでしょうね。おしりかじり虫は世の中のタイミング的にもたまたま皆さんに愛されるキャラクターだったんですよ。しかし僕は、自分が感じることや面白いというものには皆さんにも共感してもらえると信じています。またメロディーなどは、思考を凝らして生み出されたものよりも鼻歌のように自然に出て来たものの方が、皆さんの心に響くのではないかと感じますね。
それでは最後になりましたが、子供達に向けて何かメッセージを頂けますか？
これからもおしりかじり虫と一緒に歌って踊って楽しんでね！
