匿名画家が集う、ベルリンで最も熱い絵画展

この絵の作者が分からなくても、購入するだろうか？

もしあなたが絵画展に行って、展示された作品のアーティストが誰だか分からなかったら？人は、クリエーターの名前という「ブランド」にどれだけ依存しているのだろうか？そして一切の追加情報を与えられず、目の前の作品しか判断基準がないとしたら、作品に対する感想はどの程度変わるものなのだろうか？
この「匿名絵画展」というプロジェクトは、ブルーテンバイスのアンケ・ベッカーさんが、アーティストに関する情報を公開せずに、世界中から集まる作品を公開・販売する場として始めたもの。今週9日金曜日に、ベルリンでこの意欲的な試みの第４回目が行われるのを機に、アンケさんのこのプロジェクトについて、そして彼女がこれを真にアートを楽しむ唯一の方法だと考える理由を、10個のQ&Aで答えてもらった。

1. アンケさん、まずはあなたの「匿名絵画」展のコンセプトを説明していただけますか？あと、なぜアーティストの名前を隠すことが重要なのかも。

この展示会は、国際的なアート作品を匿名で公開することによって、「絵画とは何なのか」の様々な局面を集めるという試みです。

見ることだけで作品を判断せざるを得ない、そのアイディアが気に入りました。追加情報は一切なし、すべての焦点を、アーティストのパーソナリティではなく、作品自体に当てています。

私は、こういった側面は特に重要なものだと考えています。アート市場が非常に不条理で、有名画家だけに関心を寄せる傾向にあるから尚更に。ところが、この名声というものは、大抵の場合において、実際のアーティストの才能とは関係がなかったりもするのです…。

2. 作者の名前を知らないことで、人々が作品に対して正直になれるというお考えだそうですが。

ええ、絶対にそうだと思います！人が作品について話しているのを聞いてみると、完全に無名な画家の作品を評価する反面で、既に確立されたアーティストの作品に価値を見出さないということも頻繁にあります。（笑）

3. どのような方々が参加されるのでしょうか？「既に確立された画家」と「趣味人画家」、もしくは「全く経験のない画家」の比率は？

こちらに与えられる情報は、参加する方々の名前と作品だけなので、経験云々は中々分からないものですが、およそ80%が職業的な画家か才能はあるけれどまだ世に出ていない人々の作品で、残りの20%が、絵に対する熱意に満ち溢れた、画家としての経験を全く持たない方々（地方の小規模都市からのものが多い）だと思います。それら全てのどこかに、子供による作品も必ず入っています。

4. こちらの展示会では、全くテーマらしきものがないと伺いましたが、人々が自分の好きなものを何でも送ってきたら、どういうことになるのでしょうか？こちらで受け取る作品はどういったイメージのもので、特定のスタイルがあったり、他の作品の模写だったりもするのでしょうか…？

スタイルを特定するのは難しいですが、抽象的なものや概念的な作品よりも、象徴的な絵が多い気がします。1回目は本当に色々なスタイルが混在していて、2回目は船や飛行機、動物の作品が、性的なポルノ風の絵と入り混じっていました。

3回目には、テーマ別に分類した展示すらできるようになっていました。壁の1面には建築物の絵画、もう1面には植物画、肖像画とカップルの絵、言葉や文字入りの作品、概念的/抽象的な絵画などなど…。参加者が作品を送ってくる度に、一種の匿名作品への固定概念が積み重なっていくようです。題材は本当に色々で、どこまでも際限がないんですよ！

5. それでは、人はどういった絵を求めて来場するのでしょうか？

確実に象徴的な作品ですね！今のところ、抽象的な作品は一枚も売れていません。この分野にはとても良い作品がいくつかあるだけに、非常に残念なことです。その内の何枚かは、かなり名のある画家の作品だったりもします。

6. どういった方々がこの匿名絵画展を訪れて、どんな目的で絵を購入されるのですか？

匿名絵画展は、絵そのものに焦点を当ててアートの話題に興じる人々だけでなく、国際的なアーティストの集う場所にもなりつつあります。購入する人々は、単純にその絵に「惚れ込んだから」で、手が届く値段の美術品に出会えた感激から、衝動的に買う方もいます。

展示されている絵はどれも1枚100ユーロです。買い手が付き次第壁から下して、代わりにアーティストの名前をそのスペースに表示していきます。この展示会で絵を買うということは、その画家を匿名性から解放するということでもあるのです。

作品は隣接する作品との間隔を空けず、額縁なしで、スペースを埋め尽くすように直接壁に飾られる。「多くの方々から、一時に沢山の作品を目にする可能性だけでなく、この実験的な展示法にも好意的な意見をいただきました。」（アンケさん）

7. そして、この展示会から「絵画とは何なのか」の何を学ばれたのでしょうか？

私の好みが、数多くある中の一つだということを！（笑）実際に、絵に対する意見は部屋の中の人数と同じだけあるわけで、個人的に酷いと思った作品を除けなかった自分を褒めてやりたいですよ…。

8.あなたのプロジェクトと、ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートが開催しているアーティストの名前を伏せて販売する展示会に、共通した構想があると思われますか？

ええ、勿論。匿名展示会というアイディアは広がりつつあると感じますね。私が最初にブルーテンバイスで開催した直後に、フランクフルトのコンスタル・シウンでも「匿名」というオープニングが開催されていました。

9. 参加するにはどうすればいいのでしょうか？

紙に描かれたオリジナル作品1～3枚に、氏名、住所、Eメールアドレスを添えて送ってください。サイズ制限は最大A3まで。それだけですね。（詳細はこちら！）「第5回匿名絵画展」の締め切りは、2007年3月5日です！！

10. 最後に何か付け加えたいことはありますか？

これまでに世界各地から作品が送られてきましたが、アジアからはまだないんです！今後アジアの画家の間でも「匿名絵画運動」が広まって、参加者が増えることを願ってます！
