As part of the PingMag illustration series, here comes participant #9 to greet the “New Year of the Wild Boar”! As reported earlier on PingMag, Kugelblitz is an illustration collaborative between the Berlin-based Moga Mobo Studio and the Japanese comic magazine NouNouHau. Last year they went on a roundtrip presenting their Kugelblitz illustrations all around the world, visiting galleries like the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and the Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin.

Exclusively for PingMag Thomas Gronle-Legron from Moga Mobo in Berlin made a cute little New Year gift. Thank you! We recommend to watch the complete animated Flash story of his Dr. Nordten story. Thomas, would you like to add something before we start with your lovely illustration?

Xmas with Dr. Nordten: The Beginning

Woosh!
This is a Flash online comic we did especially for you! It’s some kind of a Xmas edition with Dr. Nordten, a character I developed for an online comic. Please have a look at the original long version.

Dr. Nordten’s quite a busy guy…

… always on the run.
Could you please explain a bit about the Dr. Nordten story you contributed to PingMag?
First of all you should know that the 24th of December is Xmas day (at least in Germany)and as such the most important holiday in Western culture. So Dr. Nordten is a kind of special agent or virus buster, he works as a virus hunter inside of a computer. He is always busy and in a hurry. As he reaches the 24th of December he takes a break and welcomes his new friend, the Wild Boar that has just arrived at the end of the year. The haste of Dr. Nordten in my PingMag Story is also a symbol for the shopping and preparation hustle everybody has to go through before Xmas.
Yes, it is much nicer to take it easy and relax with friends than shopping for sure!

If you look back at this year, is there something that has been extraordinary for you?
The whole collaboration with NouNouHau and the Kugelblitztour in Germany including five shows was extraordinary for Moga Mobo, of course. We had the chance to show the Kugelblitz work to many people and we had so much positive feedback and met so many nice people. Really amazing! Also the following colaboration with NouNouHau at the beginning of 2006 for the leporello illustration book Toklin we did for the Mori Art Museum Tokyo was one extraordinary project. The Mori Museum gave away more than 30 000 books to the visiters of the exhibition Berlin Tokyo - Tokyo Berlin for free. Please check out the Mori bookshop located inside of the museum, perhaps there are still some left!

Stop! Wait a minute.

Just calm down for a sec!

Indeed, it’s Xmas!

Warm greetings everyone!
Regarding this new year - do you have some wishes you would like to come true?
I would like to continue my Dr. Nordten online comic series and launch a mobile version of it. And Moga Mobo will release a new issue of our Moga Mobo Comic Magazine. Please refer to our website for news.

Thanks to Kugelblitz, and especially thank you Thomas Gronle-Legron for your Dr. Nordten-greets-the-Wild-Boar story!
