When Atsushi Toyama features some cute colorful animals in his work, he always makes the audience feel warm and cuddly inside. PingMag already wrote about his group show called Treasured Trash in November as a part of Design Tide. There he introduced some nice ideas together with Naoki Sato from Asyl Crack about to avoid pet bottles. Today, we say a bit thank you to him for creating some cute greetings for PingMag featuring his little daughter.

Atsushi, please describe what you do to make a living in your own words.
I draw pictures! (smiles)

How was 2006 for you?
I was behind paying my rent for a few months. Dear landlord, I’m really sorry!
The other memorable thing in 2006 was that I collaborated with great artists such as Keiji Ito, Namaiki, Tsuyoshi Kusano, Tomoo Gokita, Ichiro Higashiizumi, Hiroshi Iguchi and Naoki Sato from Asyl at Treasured Trash.
What is your plan for the new year?
I am planning to do an exhibition and workshop in Sendai and Nagoya. Also, my family is going to move to a very old temple in Handa, Aichi prefecture. I’m very worried about a leak in the roof….

Any message for PingMag readers?
If you are a qualified voter, you should go to vote! And if you are rich, please pay five times more than the usual price for my drawings. Thank you.
Atsushi, thank you very much for your very honest comments! Please send us some of your work from Aichi next year!
