Last week, I got a surprise packet from Syl aka meLove aka ueberfoxy from Switzerland. No, let me correct this! Syl is not from Switzerland, she is just working for Büro Destruct at the moment (whow! they managed to get some female staff!). Errr- no! I’m not even sure how much she works for them, cause when I talked to her, she was all busy sending her little dolls out, taking orders, finishing a few illustrations…. and that sounded a bit like: personal projects!?
So she does all that: illustrations, characters, dolls, stickers, a little street art with her meLove project and even some little pixel patches. Above all, she is a very cute woman who visited me in Japan about 2 years ago. At that time I introduced her to the Doraemon Shop in Shimokitazawa. She immediately fell in love with the shop owner, Mister Higashikujyo. That is no surprise, since he knows everything about Japanese characters and even sells all the old stock of his father who opened this shop more than 70 years ago.
Trust me, this shop is a designer’s orgasm! When returning back to Germany swamped with presents from the Doraemon Uncle, Syl kept thinking of the old man ever since. Here is when my mission set in: Syl did not only send me a big present to have a nice day and eat lots of Swiss chocolate, but also to travel to Shimokitazawa in her name and give her newly published book “snuff” to the Doraemon Uncle.
So I did! He immediately remembered her and took out some stickers she gave to him 2 years ago from a little crushed paper bag safely stored in his shop. When he flipped through the book, he put it aside, went to a little shelf and took out a plastic fish that has a lamp in his mouth. “This is what inspired her to draw those fish here, you see? I gave this fish to her, I remember!” he insisted. “All the good people come to my shop and take my advice. That’s what makes them all famous one day.”
The Doraemon Uncle is the best! And since I know, that you all out there want to see more and know where this magic shop is about, I created a whole extra article about the Doraemon shop exclusively for you. Enjoy!
Mission complete!

Another participatory exhibits. Choosing one photo from here, you have to find same image from the hundreds of pictures on the wall. So, which country is your picture from? You can use binocle.
