PingMag entertained the crowd at PechaKucha Night Vol. 26 last night at Super Deluxe, using our patented brand of enthusiasm, smiles and alcohol. Uleshka and Tom, speaking in both English and Japanese, presented PingMag using a slideshow to a room of about 300 designers and creative-types. Our two presenters did admirably well at keeping up with the pace of PechaKucha’s 20×20 rule (20 slides, 20 seconds each - no pauses!) whilst the rest of the PingMag team and a few friends watched from the sidelines and prayed that neither would fall over, burp, or have a spontaneous bout of tourettes.
We saw a lot of interesting work at PechaKucha, one that especially stuck in my mind was presented by our host for the evening, Mark Dytham. He showed a current project that his company Klein-Dytham architecture is working on - one that involved working with an incredibly limited space, something of a common problem in downtown Tokyo. The building (which will eventually be either a flower shop or an accessory shop) is in Moto-Azabu between Roppongi and Hiro, and has a very slender profile, with a front facade that is transparent. The pictures of the building at night looked particularly impressive - maybe PingMag will go and have a look once it’s finished!
Thanks to Super Deluxe for another great PechaKucha Night, we’ll see you again next month!
