Hifana press release party

Tsunamis and beats, drumming and dancing, watching and celebrating Hifana’s new album release on (W+K Tokyo Lab) last night. A fully audio-visual pleasure, thanks to +cruz and his team slaving to death in the last months for those amazing Hifana- videos projected all over SDLX. “Crazy! We got finished just one hour ago!” +cruz told me with an exhausted smile. “But then- it’s always like that!”

Based around the idea of Channel H (Hifana-TV) W+K Tokyo Lab once again proved a great feel for music in their moving images. I liked Wamono best, with KEIZOmachine! and Juicy from Hifana turning into adventurous fisherman caught by a gigantic wave. This hybrid of Japanese sounds and old traditional elements (Wamono actually means “Japanese things”) mixed with Hifana- style new beats is exactly what W+K Tokyo Lab is all about. You have to watch that one! DVDs are on sale already! To top it all off, they even had kakejiku, Japanese scrolls decorating SDLX’s walls. Well done!
