What a shame! What a shame! The new Hills Cafe in Roppongi announced their first Hills Garden lounge event to be the kick off party of Philip Glass’ upcoming cinema- concert tour, where he is going to play life to old classics like e.g. the Beauty and the Beast. Unfortunately that idea is not new at all, but I don’t want to blame Philip Glass for that here. He did amazing things in the past and that is a fact (even though he is still performing with Koyaanisqatsi for more than 20 years now. That does seem a bit long, doesn’t it?).
However- the posters looked promising, everyone was there waiting, but instead of Philip coming to perform to the movies running in the background, the old Koyaanisqatsi records were played again. Huh? Where was Philip? Chatting in the VIP corner! When I talked to his manager, she told me that he wasn’t going to do anything that very night. When I then asked her, what all these posters were about and what she thought all those people were expecting- waiting around paying for their drinks- she had nothing much to say. Ps. I just saw, that for some reason they chopped off the PHILIP GLASS title on those posters…
