Another Pechakucha Night at Super Deluxe. Another opportunity to have fun and discover great work. For those who don’t know the concept yet: 20 slides per person- which will later be projected for 20 seconds each, starting at 20.20pm. If you want to show your designs, talk about your concepts or present your holiday images- just send in your presentation slides (photos, concepts, drawings, animation) and you will be the next one to talk at the upcoming Pechakucha Night. There is a big mix of all kind of presenters- some surprisingly famous ones between them and there is always a good crowd of creatives enjoying another inspiring evening at Super Deluxe! Marc and Astrid from Klein- Dytham Architecture are currently also organizing events all over the world. Seems, like there are a lot of people having something to talk about.
Yesterday, one of the presenters actually fainted due to nervousness! I was touched!
Highly recommended stuff was shown by flower artists Makoto Azuma and Shunsuke Shiinoki from JARDINS des FLEURS. They team up doing everything from flower arrangement performances, flowers for fashion, installation works, window- dressing… - strictly sticking to real flowers. Truly beautiful esthetics and a great sense of imagination.
Their presentation was followed by young architect Jose Javier F. Ponce from Guatemala. Jose chose some of the most beautiful spots in Southern America to plan his light constructions- seemingly floating above the ground. His viewing platformL based on the idea of a wooden peer allowing you to walk into the sea, without really being inside the water, touched me most. Jose just finished a longer work experience at Shigeru Ban Architects in Tokyo and is currently seeking for new challenges.
The icing on the cake was French photographer Eric Maréchal, who presented the works of his passion- street art. Not interested in most tagging and rather annoying smudge, he specializes on carefully drawn pictures sought after on his numerous trips around the globe. Here is a small selection! After his speech various people offered to draw little maps of Tokyo where he might find further hidden treasures to enrich his collection. The last two images are what he found in Tokyo the following day. If you know of any other suitable places for him to photograph- not matter in which country- please mail to Eric Maréchal.
