Power- Napping

As several surveys found out, Power-Napping is being employed as a new efficiency aid, taking offices by storm worldwide.

Taking a 20 minute rest in the afternoon recharges body and mind after which you are supposed to perform more effectively than before.

Until now, napping in Western offices seemed almost like an offensive, respectless thing to do - whereas taking a rest on your keyboard in japan stands for a “hard working” attitude and is generally accepted.

However, napping in Japan to me only demonstrates how long people work, but not necessarily how efficiently. Hopefully, the whole power- napping idea will bring a different conscience of recharging and rest to both cultures. Whichever way - this is a new niche for product designers to design models to help us get comfortable quickly and in style. I like that pink “Schlafgras”, designed as a part of the Power-Napping project of the University Stuttgart, Germany.
