When rushing through an exhibition, good work often gets overlooked. An effective method of letting the visitor experience the art fully, is to make them relax. At this very Asian exhibition at the Mori Arts, the “Elegance of Silence” is a running theme - a ceiling invites you to lay on it. Lin Shumin’s “Hypnosis No.1″ is a children’s room turned upside down, allowing you to lounge and watch the room hanging down from above. This unusual perspective is somehow very comforting. It made me wonder, whether this installation relates to the Asian idea of floating on the ceiling for a while, after death. All visitors stayed for a long time and paid a lot of attention to all the details in the room.
Korean artist Ham Jin seemed to find another nice idea to keep you involved with his work: he spread his tiny art pieces across a bathroom interior, providing you with a magnifying glass to hunt for them. Lovely little details, all based on the idea of a romance between a little man and his insect fiancee.

Good idea in seeing different perspective. Too bad the lying-down-view photo isn’t big enough for me. =( Aah.. I just love the white bathroom..!
